Fall Manager's Letter

TDID Fall Letter from the Manager

With another successful pumping season behind us, I wanted to update you on your Irrigation District and what we’ve been working on.

Our team keeps advancing. In April, David Esquivias joined us as a second Field Operator. He’s a quick learner and will be a vital asset in providing excellent customer service in the field. His arrival allowed us to promote Mark Renken to Field Operations Supervisor. Mark showed natural leadership as a Field Operator, and I know he will excel in his new role. I’m extremely proud of what the entire team has accomplished over this last year.

Proactive maintenance is paying off. Over the last few years, we’ve shifted from reacting to problems to preventing them. By collecting much more data from our tanks, motors, and pumps, we can make informed decisions in real time and get the most from our repairs and equipment investments. A new fiber optic communication project will take this further, giving the office better remote monitoring and real time status of every pump and motors health. Old transformers are being replaced with new units. Obsolete pumps are being replaced with more easily attainable modern models. This will help us combat the lead time crisis many companies are still facing and take another step towards a more reliable system.

This approach helped us go from at least five District-wide unplanned outages last year to just two this year: a May lightning and windstorm that took out a power line, and a main line repair on Skyline. Each left customers without water for less than 48 hours. We’re happy with the progress, but our goal is a pumping season with no unplanned District-wide outages, and we’re getting closer every year.

Budget. Even with all of these improvements, TDID has remained highly efficient with funds we are trusted with.  I’m pleased to share that the 2027 acreage assessment rate will remain at $286.50 per acre.

Our patrons mean everything to us, and we want the District to be the best it can be for you. We value your feedback and are always glad to hear from you. Have a great offseason. We look forward to serving you again in the spring!

Sincerely,
Weslee Cyphers
